PARENT WATCH
WEEK

Parent Watch Week for all our READY SET DANCE & READY SET BALLET classes will be Saturday 2nd April – Friday 8th April. This is your opportunity to be the special guest and head into the classroom and see what they have been learning and how much they have improved this term. Please remember that watching day is not always indicative of what your child does during a normal lesson. Some preschoolers participate more when parents aren’t in the room, they can be unpredictable so we are never quite sure what our class will be like with an audience.

TERM DATES

The last day of classes for Term 1 will be Saturday 9th April, and we are back on Tuesday 19th April – 27th June for Term 2. All student enrolments will carry over for Term 2. Invoices will be sent out 28th March.

Public holidays in Term 2 are crazy, we have 3 in a row! The studio will be closed on Easter Monday 18th April and ANZAC Day 25th April. Normal classes will be running on May Day (2nd May) and we will be running an extra class on Monday June 27th which is the first Monday of the June/July holiday break.

MID-YEAR
SHOWCASE

All classes are busily preparing for our MidYear Showcase which will be Sunday 12th June at Sitzler Netball Stadium in Marrara. The MidYear Showcase is low key and an entertaining afternoon with our dance family. It is a great opportunity for the students to showcase what they have been learning and see the other styles of dance and connect with other age groups. No costumes or make-up required, just pure dance! Tickets will be available to purchase soon.

FACEBOOK

Facebook is a great way for us to keep in touch with a large number of people at once, so we encourage all families to join our exclusive Royal X Parents & Students Facebook group. Here we will post updates and reminders. This group can be found at https://www.facebook.com/groups/34971 3112266495/

DANCE STEP PROGRAM

Dance Step is our Student Teacher and Leadership program. It provides learning opportunities for dance students from ten years of age. Designed to develop leadership and employable skills such as communication, team work, problem solving and emotional judgement both in the studio and in everyday life.

We will be introducing you to this year’s DanceSteppers and our first one up is 13yr old Tilly Wilton. Tilly was a competitive gymnast and has been dancing for 9 years. Her favourite style of dance is contemporary. Tilly is hoping the DanceStep program will help her achieve a deeper understanding of dance whilst allowing her to work alongside our senior teachers. She’s currently assisting in our Wednesday afternoon Enhanced acro class.

CAR-PARKING

For the safety of our dance students, and out of respect for the other tenants in the complex, we ask that everyone please park in the cul-de-sac. We need to work together to continue making this area safe for little ones who are walking to classes. Please make use of the older students on weekends who will happily walk little ones to classes.

SHOWCASE DANCE
COMPETITION

Showcase Dance Competition is on the 9th April and is the first competition for 2022. Our Elite teams, Crews and soloists have all been working very hard to prepare. Good luck to everyone performing and we know you will all do your best as you represent the studio. This event is held at the Darwin Entertainment Centre and is open to the public to watch so if you would like to go along and support them tickets can be purchased from www.yourcentre.com.au

FUNDRAISING
COMMITTEE

This year we are once again hoping to take a group of students to Evolution Dance Competition National. It will be held on the Gold Coast in January. To aid in this endeavour we have fired up the fundraising committee. If you would like to be a part of this team, happy to volunteer at events or have ideas for fundraising or sponsorship please message Marina at fundraising@royalexistence.com.au. There will be a fundraising meeting scheduled soon at the studio if you can make it.

HOLIDAY
WORKSHOPS

We have 3 fun holiday workshops running over the short Easter Break. These will be available to book on your DSP account shortly. More details on the workshops can be found on the attached flyer.

RAD BALLET & IDT
JAZZ EXAMS

RAD Ballet & IDT Jazz exams are scheduled for Term 3. These are a recommended but not compulsory part of the dance curriculum at Royal X. Students in both ballet & jazz classes are working hard in preparation for if they choose to sit them. Dance exams provide students with important & achievable goals to work towards. By successfully achieving their set goals it helps give a measurable boost to their self confidence not to mention their dance technique.
